Job summary

Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC is seeking a Progressive Care Registered Nurse to join the PCU team. The RN delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with physicians and care teams, coordinating pre-operative and post-operative nursing across shifts.

Required BSN (or enrollment with a 5-year plan), NC RN licensure (eNLC may apply), and a BLS certification; one year of nursing experience preferred.

Qualifications

• BSN required or enrolled and will obtain within 5 years of hire date into RN position.
• MSN degree preferred for advanced practice or leadership roles.
• Current RN licensure in North Carolina; eNLC may apply.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition during admission and each shift.
• Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
• Document administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor response.
• Maintain knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in cardiac and medical-surgical care.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Progressive Care Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care. The RN serves as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience.

What you will do in this role:

• Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.


• Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.


• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.


• Perform the administration of prescribed medications and monitors response.


• Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.

What qualifications you will need:

• Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enroll in a BSN or advanced degree program and obtain a BSN within 5 years of hire date into RN position. Grandfathering will be accepted between departments and Mission Health entities. Exemptions, or extensions, may be approved by the facility CNO and reported out to the CNO Council members. Each facility will ensure tracking of exemptions should this information be needed. RNs with 10 years or more of experience are exempt.


• Preferred Education: Masters in Nursing.


• Required License/Certifications: Must have and maintain current licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse License Compact) license may apply, licensee should confirm with NCBON


• Certificate: BLS Healthcare Provider


• Preferred License/Certifications: National Certification in area of specialty


• Required Experience: One year nursing experience
