Qualifications

• Valid New York State license and current registration as a Registered Professional Nurse in NYS.
• Holds or obtains through facility orientation a valid BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional nursing care to patients/clients within an assigned unit under supervision.
• Diagnoses and treats responses to health problems using nursing methods and techniques.
• Develops, implements and evaluates the nursing regimen for patients/clients.
• Records and maintains nursing care plans and progress notes for continuity of care.
• Interprets and reports patient responses to the health team.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary health team to plan comprehensive patient care.
• Assigns components of the nursing regimen to allied nursing personnel as appropriate.
• Provides teaching and direction to allied nursing personnel in patient care.
• Participates in defining and maintaining standards of nursing practice.
• Participates in departmental and interdisciplinary conferences on nursing policies and procedures.
• Contributes to evaluating and developing policies supporting nursing services.
