Job summary

Cayuga Health in Ithaca, NY, is seeking a Registered Nurse to support physicians and mid-level providers with clinical activities and direct patient care. The RN may assist in appointment scheduling and related activities to optimize patient service.

You will work in a collaborative team, perform nursing procedures, patient education, records preparation, and triage under practice protocols; NY licensure and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited RN program.
• Current NYS licensure as RN.
• BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs professional nursing care in accordance with the New York State Nursing Practice Act.
• Carries out all assigned nursing procedures for the comfort and well-being of patients, per practice protocols.
• Takes and records patient’s vital signs.
• Performs triage for physicians/providers with regard to clinical questions, prescription refills, test results and other patient calls per practice protocols.
• Prepares patient’s record for visit and patient education, as directed by physician/provider.
• Maintains compliance regulations.
• Participates in scheduled team meetings to discuss/clarify roles, responsibility, processes, and patient issues.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and committees, as requested.
• Provide care management by communicating with community agencies as appropriate.
• Works with all members of the team to achieve patient-centered care as well as quality care by using the best practice standards and case management.
