Job summary

Animas Surgical Hospital is seeking a full-time RN for an overnight shift in Colorado. The nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care under the direction of the department manager.

Responsibilities include admissions, transfers, discharges, and discharge planning in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Requirements include graduation from an accredited nursing program and an active RN license, with CPR certification; ACLS/PALS/TNCC as per policy.

  • Current state RN license and CPR certification; ACLS/PALS/TNCC as required by policy.
  • Experience as an RN in a related care area preferred.

Job Summary

This is a full‑time, overnight position which under the direction of the Department manager or Supervisor assesses, plans, organizes and evaluates all aspects of patient care for assigned unit/patients.

Reports To

Director, Inpatient Services | RN Supervisor

Hourly Rate

$34.14-$54.00 (hourly rate does not include overtime or bonuses which are not guaranteed)

Essential Job Functions

Utilizes the nursing process to provide quality patient care according to established standards of care which includes planning, implementing, evaluating and adjusting plan of care, and discharge planning based on expected patient outcomes.

  • Admits, transfers, and discharges patients.
  • Completes ongoing patient assessment and documents according to policy.
  • Completes nursing assessment as appropriate for the patient’s condition and within established time frames.
  • Develops patient plan of care to include patient problems, goals, evaluations and interventions.
  • Reports symptoms and significant changes in patient’s condition to appropriate personnel and in a timely manner.
  • Assesses, collaborates and coordinates patient’s discharge planning needs and readiness for discharge with other members of the care team.
  • Demonstrates appropriate application of age‑specific standards, policies and procedures and guidelines in caring for child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Collaborates and works cooperatively with physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team in formal and informal teaching of patients and/or family about disease process and wellness promotion plan and discharge planning.
  • Demonstrates an awareness and relevance of research in nursing; evaluates practices to identify areas for improvement or opportunities for research.

  • Demonstrates the spirit of the philosophy, mission, and values of the hospital through words and actions and implements them into departmental processes, programs, and the working environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.

Certification, Licensure: Current state license as a registered nurse; current CPR certification; ACLS, PALS or TNCC certifications per policy.

Experience, Training, Knowledge: Previous experience as an RN in a related care area preferred.

Physical Requirements

Requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 50 pounds; stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching; standing and walking more than 5 hours per day; visual acuity to correctly distinguish skin tone variations, evidence of IV infiltration, infection; ability to read telemetry, blood pressure gauges, etc.; audio acuity to correctly distinguish various body sounds and sounds from equipment indicating dangerous or improper operation.

Working Conditions / Environmental Exposures

Environmental hazards such as chemicals, solvents, needles, needle containers, sharps, blood, body fluids, various infectious/communicable diseases, infectious medical waste, radiation, or radioactive materials and/or waste, and proximity to moving mechanical parts. Protective clothing/equipment may be necessary.

Immunization and Vaccination Requirements
  • Hepatitis B – Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Hepatitis B or three doses Hep B vaccine at appropriate intervals.
  • Influenza – Documentation of current seasonal flu vaccine (mandatory from November 1st through March 31st each year).
  • Measles, Mumps, and Rubella – Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella or 2 doses of MMR vaccination.
  • Varicella (chickenpox) – Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Varicella or 2 doses of Varicella vaccine.
  • Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) – Documented proof of immunization.
  • Tuberculosis Screening – Documentation of a two‑step TB skin test within the past year or lab verification of a negative TB Gold or T‑Spot tuberculin test within the past 6 months.
  • Vaccine records or evidence of immunity are required prior to the first day of scheduled work.
