Job summary

The GEO Group is hiring a Registered Nurse at our GEO Reentry Services LLC facility in Casper, Wyoming. Join a correctional healthcare team delivering high-quality nursing care to inmates while maintaining a secure, compliant environment.

Requirements include an associate or bachelor degree in nursing, current RN license for Wyoming, and at least two years of direct experience. We offer competitive pay at $43 per hour and benefits.

Qualifications

• RN requirements: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in nursing from an approved program.
• Current, unrestricted Wyoming RN license.
• Two years of direct work experience, preferred.
• Ability to provide crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical and psychiatric nursing care.
• Ability to perform nursing diagnosis with supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level nursing care to inmates/detainees.
• Assist physician with sick calls and minor procedures.
• Administer prescribed medications and document progress.
• Record observations and progress notes; report problems.
• Maintain security during medication dispensing and prevent hoarding/trafficking.
• Destroy needles/syringes safely.
• Maintain confidentiality of medical records.
• Coordinate Chronic Disease Clinic scheduling.

Responsibilities

Working alongside our Health Services Administrator, you'll play a vital part in providing the highest level of Nursing care to inmates/detainees while putting a special focus on maintaining our safe and secure workplace

Additional responsibilities:

• Assisting physician with sick call by screening patients and assisting with minor surgical procedures.
• Ensuring that prescribed medications are administered as ordered using the formulary.
• Making observation rounds on patients and recording in progress notes.
• Evaluating symptoms, reactions and progress of patients on periodic basis, charting; and reporting problems to management.
• Maintaining security while dispensing medications and is continually cognizant of the potential hazard of drug hoarding and trafficking among detainees/inmates.
• Destroying and properly disposing of all needles/syringes.
• Maintaining compliance with industry and company policies for accreditation.
• Documenting all detainee/inmate contacts.
• Maintaining confidentiality of medical records.
• Coordinating Chronic Disease Clinic scheduling.

Registered Nurse requirements:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an approved program; graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current, unrestricted license to practice as Registered Nurse in the state the facility is located.
• Maintain a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times.
• Two (2) years of direct work experience, preferred.
• Ability to provide the following services: crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical nursing care and psychiatric nursing care.
• Ability to perform nursing diagnosis and appropriate follow through treatment without direct supervision.
