Job summary

Oak Plains Academy in Ashland City, TN is seeking a Part-Time Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care within our psychiatric residential treatment program for youth. The RN will assess patients, administer medications, and help implement individualized care plans with a multidisciplinary team.

We offer a supportive work environment with shift differential rates, six-week self-scheduling, and a strong emphasis on safety and patient care.

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited RN program and Tennessee license (or license eligible).
• Experience with children/adolescents preferred.
• Experience in psychiatric inpatient setting preferred.
• Must be 21 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.
• Must attend two-week orientation classes, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

• Renders professional nursing care to patients within the treatment programs. Performs ongoing patient assessment and updates care plans. Administers medications and documents data per policy.
• Performs proper safety techniques and completes debriefings as indicated.
• Serves as a role model to staff and students in dress and demeanor.

Position Located in Ashland City, TN

Oak Plains Academy is a comprehensive and highly structured 98-bed residential treatment program offering psychiatric residential treatment services to children and adolescents, struggling with emotional and behavioral issues. Residents receive an individualized treatment plan, geared to meet their personal needs. A professional team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, therapists, nurses, and teachers serve hundreds of children and adolescents annually with the common goal of treating and healing trauma and building resiliency in the residents we serve. Located on 20 acres of rolling hills in a rural setting, about 45 minutes from Nashville, Tennessee, Oak Plains Academy campus features a full-size gymnasium, dining hall, separate academic building, and four dormitories. Our wooded campus provides an excellent opportunity for outdoor recreational activities such as fishing, hiking, softball and basketball.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Renders professional nursing care to patients within the treatment programs. Practices ongoing patient assessment, evaluation and update of patient care through observation of physical and behavioral symptoms and communicates pertinent data to other service areas as needed. Administers medications appropriately and documents all data accurately according to facility policy. Participates in formulation of individual care plans for all patients and implements plan according to facility policy.
• Performs proper HWC techniques, demonstrating knowledge of patient and staff safety. Completes debriefings as indicated.
• Serves as a role model to staff and students in dress and demeanor.
