Job summary

Humble Vascular Surgical Center Inc. seeks a Registered Nurse to advocate for patients and provide continuity of care across the surgical floor, including adult, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients.

The RN will assess needs, collaborate with the healthcare team, and support facility goals. The role requires Texas RN licensure, BLS (ACLS within 3 months), and at least two years’ staff nurse experience on a surgical floor with spines/joints.

Qualifications

  • Licensure as a registered nurse in Texas.
  • BLS certification; ACLS certification or successful completion within 3 months of hire date.
  • Minimum of two years’ work experience as a staff nurse with surgical floor experience with spines and joints.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assessment/data collection focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive status.
  • Forms a goal directed plan of care, prioritized by nursing diagnosis and patient outcomes.
  • Implements care in a knowledgeable, skilled manner to reach patient outcomes via nursing processes.
  • Establishes priorities of patient care based on essential needs and center resources.
  • Performs in emergency situations following protocols, communicates appropriately, and documents events.
  • Maintains knowledge in medical/surgical patient care, pain assessment, pharmacology, lab values, safety and legal issues, and emergency equipment.
  • Demonstrates problem identification and resolution as part of decision making.
  • Performs on-floor and patient-record documentation—timely, accurate, and concise.
  • Works as part of a team in delivering patient care.
  • Maintains BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Attends mandatory in-services and staff meetings.
  • Remains flexible and able to accept new ideas and approaches.
  • Treats all patients equally following the center’s Patient Rights policy.
  • Reviews and carries out physician orders professionally.
  • Willingness to assist with other duties as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Performs efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events.
  • Demonstrates applied knowledge base in areas of medical/surgical patient care, pain assessment and actions of pharmaceuticals and anesthetic agents, laboratory values, safety and legal issues and all emergency equipment.
  • Practices effective problem identification and resolution skills as a method of sound decision making.
  • Performs documentation duties on the floor and in the patient record, which is timely, accurate and concise.
  • Works as part of a team in delivering patient care.
  • Maintains BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Attends all mandatory in services and participates in staff meetings.
  • Remains flexible, adaptive, and able to accept and implement new ideas and approaches.
  • Treats all patients equally adopting the center’s Patient Rights policy.
  • Reviews and carries out physician orders in an appropriate professional manner.
  • Willingness to assist with other duties when asked.
