Job summary

IU Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the 4S Surgical Orthopedic Trauma Unit on the Methodist campus. You will provide direct patient care for post-operative and trauma patients, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and support the unit's culture of excellence.

The role requires an ASN with BSN preferred, an active RN license in Indiana (or NLC), BLS, and ongoing professional development to advance patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • ASN; BSN preferred.
  • Active RN license in Indiana or NLC RN license.
  • Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care on the Orthopedic Trauma Unit.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to coordinate care.
  • Manage post-operative care and monitor patient progress.
  • Prioritize nursing interventions based on acuity.

Orthopedic Trauma Unit

Indiana University Health Methodist's 4S Surgical Orthopedic Trauma Unit is a highly specialized, 29-bed medical surgical unit. 4S team members are trained in the care of patients presenting with a variety of orthopedic traumas, including, but not limited to, motor vehicle/motorcycle trauma, falls, crush injuries, joint repairs and replacements, and thoracolumbar surgeries.

Qualifications:
  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
