Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking an experienced Oncology Infusion Nurse for part-time work at the Northwest Community Hospital Infusion Center in Arlington Heights, IL. Shifts are weekday with some weekends/holidays, requiring compassionate and clinically strong care for oncology patients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
  • Current State of Illinois RN licensure is required.
  • BLS/CPR certification issued by AHA is required.
  • OCN/ONS certification is required or candidates must obtain it and enroll in an approved course.
  • Certification reimbursement is available for both full-time and part-time employees.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a plan of care to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Evaluates patient progress and revises diagnoses and interventions as needed.
  • Performs patient assessments and collects health data from patient and family.
  • Communicates the plan of care to patient and family and to the medical team.
  • Provides individualized teaching based on learning needs and cultural background.
  • Assists in teaching disease management, emergency care, and drug information.
  • Identifies community resources to support patient self-management.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and nursing research.
  • Conducts daily rounds of wound/ostomy/skin care if skilled.
  • Maintains HIPAA compliance and supports patient safety.

Hourly Pay Range:

$36.00 - $55.80 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:
  • Position: Registered Nurse, Infusion Clinic
  • Location: Northwest Community Hospital - Infusion Center - 3060 W Salt Creek Ln, Arlington Heights, IL 60005
  • Part Time | 24 hours/week
  • Hours: 3 weekday shifts Monday - Friday, staggered shifts 7:30am-4pm, 8am-4:30pm, 8:30am-5pm, and 9am-5:30pm, with occasional weekends and holidays from 8am-12pm
  • Required Travel: May float Niles Infusion Clinic, as needed.

  • Oncology nursing is about far more than an infusion.
  • You know the difference between a routine assessment and a subtle change that needs attention. You know how much a calm voice can matter on treatment day, how to explain a complex regimen without overwhelming a patient, and how meaningful it is when a patient sees a familiar nurse and knows they're in good hands.
  • We're looking for an experienced Oncology Infusion Nurse who brings that clinical judgment, confidence, and compassion to every chair in our infusion center.

  • The Staff Nurse will deliver safe and compassionate nursing care for all patient populations by planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient plan of care. The Staff Nurse will collaborates with nurses, physicians, and other members of the clinical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care.
What you will do:
  • Develops a plan of care that identifies interventions to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Evaluates patient's progress toward attainment of outcomes, systematically revises diagnosis, interventions and expected outcomes as needed.
  • Provides patient assessment and collection of health data involving patient, family and other health care providers. .
  • Communicates plan of care to patient and family regularly respecting the patient's wishes through acknowledgment of patient/family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomes. Communicates patient data to physician and interdisciplinary team as indicated to achieve patient care needs. Documents patient health data, interventions and communications.
  • Individualizes patient and family teaching based on a thorough assessment to meet their specific learning needs.
  • Assesses patient's cultural background, learning style, learning barriers, and modifies teaching plan accordingly.
  • Provides teaching on disease management strategies, emergency care and drug information when appropriate.
  • Identifies community resources to support patient self-management of disease.
  • Interacts with and contributes to professional development of peers, students and other health care providers as colleagues.
  • Shares knowledge, provides feedback and contributes to an environment supportive of clinical education.
  • Assigns or delegates tasks as needed.
  • Nurture a compassionate environment by providing psychological support
  • Provide assistance to technical staff with injection of contrast, venipuncture, and administration of drugs, 02 therapy, and IV management.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and nursing research. Keeps abreast of research and practice trends in wound/ostomy/skin care through participation in professional networking, ongoing education, and self-directed learning activities. Supports staff in using research and providing evidence-based care
  • If skilled, conducts daily rounds of wound/ostomy/skin care patients. Monitors effectiveness of wound/ostomy treatment plans and other aspects of wound/ostomy/skin care
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist in the transporting of acutely ill patients as needed.
What you will need:
  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing, required.
  • Experience: 1 year of RN experience, required. 1 year oncology/infusion nursing experience, preferred.
  • Certification: BLS/CPR issued by American Heart Association, required.
  • OCN/ONS certification, required, or candidates must be willing to obtain OCN/ONS certification and enroll in an approved certification course.
  • Certification reimbursement is available to both full-time and part-time employees.
  • License: Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse Licensure, required.
