Lehigh Valley Health Network in Pottsville, PA, is seeking a full-time Oncology RN for day shift. You will provide professional, safe nursing care to oncology patients, educate families, and coordinate treatments within a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires an accredited nursing degree, PA RN license (or compact), and BLS. OCN/ONCC certification is preferred, with opportunities for advancement and ongoing education within LVHN's Magnet-recognized program.

The Oncology Nurse serve as a crucial part of a patient's cancer care team, often educating, coordinating, administering, and monitoring the treatment and services the patient receives. The Oncology Nurse utilizes effective and appropriate communication style and works collaboratively with other healthcare disciplines to assure safe delivery of oncologic patient care. The Oncology Nurse participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care within their designated department. The Oncology Nurse assists with maintaining a safe work environment and demonstrates annual competence with clinical skills, clinical equipment, and electronic medical record system.Job DutiesAssesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the care for designated oncology patients. Recognizes the need for and initiates collaboration/communication with physician or other interdisciplinary team members and takes actions to proactively resolve patient needs. Demonstrates critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and ability to adapt to changing situations.Uses effective and appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication styles with patients, families, visitors, staff, and other professional colleagues. Serves as an advocate for patients.Provides both written and verbal education to patients and families that assist in translating complex medical terminology and treatment methodologies.
