University Hospitals in Beachwood, OH is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Observation Unit (Rotating). The 22-bed unit provides cardiac monitoring and rapid access to outpatient services to decide on admission or discharge.

The RN will deliver care per nursing process, maintain patient safety, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. Qualifications include Ohio RN license (or multi-state), ADN or Diploma (BSN preferred).

A Brief Overview

Ahuja Observation is a 22 bed acute care Medical-Surgical unit which has cardiac monitoring capabilities and private rooms. While in observation status, our patients receive priority outpatient services such as lab and radiology testing. This helps our interdisciplinary care team decide if the patient needs to be admitted as inpatient or can be discharged. These observation services can involve an overnight stay and up to 24-48 hours of observation care. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:4.

Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

Education

• Other Accredited Program: Diploma in Nursing or
• (ADN) Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required)
• (BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
• (MN) Master in Nursing (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of nursing process and practice. (Required proficiency)
• Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices. (Required proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire) and
• Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
