Job summary

AdventHealth in Winter Garden, FL, seeks an RN for acute care. Full-time day shift with competitive pay. Job Description:
  • Participates in peer interviewing and review processes.

  • Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in the delivery of nursing services.

  • Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health and unit‑specific data for process improvement initiatives.

  • Conducts initial patient assessments within expected timeframes, initiates consults as indicated, and identifies patient/family teaching and discharge planning needs.

  • Maintains safe practices by demonstrating unit‑specific clinical competency and compliance with all regulatory standards.

  • Ensures safe and effective handoff communications and documentation between caregivers.

  • Communicates courteously with internal and external customers in person or on the telephone.

  • Demonstrates respect for co‑workers and develops positive working relationships with other departments.

  • Participates in hourly rounding using the Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank You (AIDET) technique to improve patient outcomes.

  • Incorporates Caring Model behaviors and culturally competent care into daily practice.

  • Adheres to organizational standards for dress and professional appearance.

  • Collaborates and demonstrates teamwork in managing patient flow, promoting timely patient placement by following hospital policy for admission, discharge, and transfer.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficient clinical critical care skills and critical thinking skills with strong communication skills [Required]

  • Basic computer skills and commitment to hourly patient rounding [Required]

  • Previous EKG Interpretation Class [Preferred]

  • Must possess frequent independent judgment and the ability to handle clinical situations requiring sound professional judgment and critical‑thinking skills, including clinical assessment, data analysis, and patient response. [Preferred]

  • Responsible for providing quality patient care and continuously prioritizing multiple duties. [Preferred]

  • Ability to function calmly and professionally during stressful situations. [Preferred]

  • Utilization of assessment, reassessment, and critical‑thinking skills in dealing with changes in patient outcomes. [Preferred]

  • General knowledge of professional nursing principles and techniques, as well as the pharmacological process in the appropriate administration or delivery of medications. [Preferred]
