Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Harvey is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Neurology team in a 100% onsite community-based clinic. The RN will provide professional nursing care, perform assessments, document findings, and coordinate treatments with physicians and staff.

The role requires Illinois RN licensure, at least one year of nursing experience, basic life support certification, and a nursing degree from an accredited program. Strong patient communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be actively licensed as a Registered Nurse in Illinois.
• Minimum of one year professional nursing experience.
• Completion of nursing training from an accredited school of nursing.
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Responsibilities

• Provides professional nursing care for patients based on practice guidelines and standards of care.
• Assesses patient health status, vital signs and history, and plans care accordingly.
• Administers prescribed medications and monitors patient response.
• Documents care and treatment data using medical records systems.
• Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and participates in quality assurance activities.

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine Medical Group, as a Registered Nurse at our Harvey clinic. Here, you will work alongside our Neurology team. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

At UChicago Medicine, we have assembled a team of neurological experts who are highly skilled in evaluating and treating the most complex and challenging nervous system disorders – with and without surgery.

A Registered Nurse, UCM Care Network, is responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients including assessment, treatment, care planning, and medical care evaluation by following established standards, protocols and practices. Assists physicians and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as primary liaison between patients, staff and physicians. This position will be located in a community-based physician practice.

Essential Job Functions

• Obtains patient consent for care and ensures patient confidentiality
• Obtains and documents health history, information on chief complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors and assesses disease condition
• Provides patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations
• Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response
• Delegates as allowed under the Nurse Practice Act. Refers to/consults with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent/resolve problems or concerns
• Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions
• Documents patient assessment and intervention data using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices
• Participates in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes
• Tracks quality assurance data and monitors for acute and chronic care management
• Maintains/reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information
• Posts tests and examination results
• Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls
• Maintains patient confidentiality
• Performs other duties assigned

Required Qualifications

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
