Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for Marlborough Campus with day shift. The role focuses on delivering high-quality patient care, coordinating nursing processes from admission to discharge, and collaborating with physicians and staff to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.

The position requires MA RN licensure, BLS, ACLS, and PALS; CEN eligibility within 12 months of hire. A signing bonus may be available for eligible candidates.

I. Major Responsibilities:

• Utilizes the Nursing Process for the delivery and management of patient's care from Admission to Discharge, appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population.
• Performs patient assessment/reassessment according to standard procedure.
• Develops and coordinates individual plan of care including discharge planning.
• Directs, supervises, coordinates and evaluate nursing care within assigned clinical setting.
• Delegates appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level.
• Documents patient care according to standard procedure.
• Develops, implements/coordinates and documents Education Plan for patient/family/ significant other.
• Ensures quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other health care providers.
• Administers medications, performs treatments, therapies and operates equipment according to policy and procedure. Assists physician with treatment and procedures and special tests as required or directed.
• Participates in and supports Nursing Governance activities.
• Assumes responsibility for professional growth. Assists in education and development of staff.
• Participates in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrate the use of quality improvement in daily operations.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

Required:

• Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
• BLS is a requirement for every RN unless advance cardiac life support (ACLS) certification is current, in addition to any unit specific certifications and competencies.

Preferred

• Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred.

Experience/Skills:

Required:

• Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.

III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

Work is considered medium. Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment.

Addendum for UMass Memorial Medical Center at Nashoba Valley:

Per Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Registered Nurses employed at the SEF (Satellite Emergency Facility) must have the following qualifications:

License/Certification/Education

Required:

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support or APLS (Advanced Pediatric Life Support).
• Must be eligible to obtain CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) upon hire. If not certified upon hire, caregiver must obtain within 12 months of hire or by 1/31/2029, whichever is earlier, or be subject to termination.

Experience/Skills

Required:

• Have a minimum of three years' experience working in a full-service hospital emergency department.
• Provide traditional clinical emergency services at a full-service hospital emergency department (Marlborough Campus) for at least 25% of their total working hours per year.
