Job summary

Indiana University Health (IU Health) is seeking experienced nurses for the MedSurg 6S unit in Indiana. The role is Day Shift, Full Time, with opportunities for growth and strong collaborative care alongside top medical professionals.

Eligible for referral and new hourly location differential in addition to standard shift and holiday differentials. RN license in Indiana or NLC required; ASN is required with BSN preferred. BLS certification required and varied unit certifications may apply.

Qualifications

  • Requires ASN; BSN preferred.
  • Active RN license in Indiana or NLC RN license.
  • Graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • May consider candidates with >2 years acute care experience if not from a nationally accredited program, subject to CNO approval.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; other advanced Life Support certifications may be required.

About the Unit:

Indiana University Health Multi-Specialty MedSurg (6S) is a fast-paced, 30-bed unit that specializes in caring for a diverse patient population. Patients on this unit may present with conditions related to urology, colorectal, gynecology, general surgery, ENT, and oral and maxillofacial surgery, trauma. Due to the wide range of diagnoses treated on the unit, nurses gain valuable experience caring for a variety of medical and surgical patients.

Qualifications
  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
