Job summary

CoxHealth South is seeking a critical care nurse (RN) to join the Medical ICU South team. You will provide direct, specialized care for acutely ill patients in a high‑tech monitoring environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to improve outcomes.

The role offers in-hospital credentialing classes, a clinical ladder, and potential bonus opportunities. Certification pay and BSN pay are part of the compensation considerations, with dedicated opportunities to grow professionally.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program.
• Missouri RN license active or eligible.
• BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• ACLS must be obtained within one year of hire.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and individualized care to acutely and critically ill patients in MICU.
• Monitor patient condition and interpret monitoring data; operate complex equipment.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to coordinate care.
• Participate in credentialing classes and in-hospital education for critical care.
• Contribute to the clinical ladder and seek opportunities for professional growth.

They assess the patient’s condition, perform diagnostic tests, begin treatments and assist doctors with any required medical procedures. The critical care nurse monitors and adjusts specialized equipment, interprets and records electronic displays; i.e. intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, cardiac rhythms, ventilator settings, etc.Education: Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in NursingExperience: Preferred: Previous nursing experienceSkills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills Demonstrate effective leadership abilities Exhibits valuable time management skills Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills.
