Job summary

Kings County Hospital Center, part of NYC Health + Hospitals, seeks a Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care under supervision within an assigned unit. The nurse diagnoses and treats responses to health problems using nursing methods such as case-finding, health teaching and counseling to support life and well-being.

Minimum qualifications include a valid NYS RN license, current registration, and AHA BLS certification.

Qualifications

A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Responsibilities

Identifies and discriminates between physical and psycho-social signs and symptoms; performs essential therapeutic measures for the nursing regimen.
Develops, implements and continuously evaluates the nursing regimen for assigned patients.
Records and maintains nursing care plans and progress notes to ensure continuity of care.
Interprets and reports patient responses to appropriate members of the health team.
Participates with interdisciplinary health team to plan a comprehensive patient care program.
Determines and assigns components of the nursing regimen for allied personnel.
Provides teaching and guidance to allied nursing personnel in patient care.
Participates in evaluating nursing practices and policies.
