Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC seeks a Registered Nurse for the 3 South Medical Telemetry unit. The RN will plan and implement professional nursing care and may serve as charge nurse as assigned.

Requirements include an Associate's degree in nursing (Bachelor's preferred) and NC RN licensure or compact state licensure. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates. New grads are welcome in this unit with a track schedule.

Registered Nurse, RN plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.

Major Job Functions

• Assesses the patient and identifies patient care needs
• Uses patient assessment information to organize appropriate patient care
• Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates patient care
• Facilitates a safe environment
• Maintains required competencies
• Functions as charge nurse as assigned
• Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care
• Administers medication as ordered by physician
• Recognizes life threatening situations and responds appropriately
• Establishes collaborative interdisciplinary relationships with other Health System staff and medical staff
• Monitors the quality of care based on pre-established outcome-oriented indicators
• Actively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient services
• Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patients
• Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of medical regimen
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Formal Training: Associate's degree in nursing required Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure.

Unit Description

3 South is a 36 Bed Unit consisting of an all-adult patient unit, working on a track schedule. Patient Ratio 1:5. Our Care team consists of Registered Nurses, a Clinical Educator, Nursing Assistant's, Unit Secretary, Resource Nurses, Case Managers, Physical Therapists, Dieticians and Occupational and Speech Therapists. New Graduate Nurses are accepted and welcome!

Work Experience and Clinical Areas

Experience: 1 – 2 years of related clinical experience preferred. Pneumonia, Congested heart Failure, Renal failure, Sepsis, Stroke, Seizures, Respiratory illness CPAP, BIPAP and Telemetry required Tracheotomy PCA Pumps.

• Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically served

Physical Requirements

• Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs
• Visual acuity for observation of patients
• Much standing, walking, bending, and lifting
• May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
