Job summary

St. David's HealthCare is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical-Surgical Oncology unit to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with the care team.

You will assess patients, administer medications, educate families, and document care according to state and specialty standards to ensure positive outcomes. You will work within established nursing models and serve as an advocate for patients and families, contributing to an outstanding patient experience and the future

Qualifications

  • BLS within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or Master’s Degree in Nursing.
  • No travel required.
  • 1 year(s) of experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the patient's condition during admission and each shift, reporting changes promptly.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions per provider orders and document care in the medical record; administer medications and monitor responses.
  • Provide exceptional care by promptly responding to patient requests and anticipating needs.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about condition, treatment plan, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures.

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse Medical Surgical Oncology, your voice to influence patient care is valued and empowered at every turn –whether through open, collaborative relationships with your direct manager or more formal opportunities through hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You'll help shape decisions that elevate both patient outcomes and the future of nursing.

As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." You will also act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organization’s vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record. Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
  • Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.
Qualifications
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or Master’s Degree.
  • No travel required.
  • 1 year(s) of experience required.
