Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL is seeking a Staff Nurse Inpatient for the Night shift (7:00 pm–7:30 am) on the CDH Medical Oncology unit. You will provide direct patient care, coordinate with a multidisciplinary team, and ensure quality and safety in a high-acuity setting.

Requirements include a BSN, Illinois RN license, and BLS. ADN may be accepted with commitment to obtain a BSN within three years.

Qualifications

• BSN required for RN position in Illinois.
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse is required.
• American Heart Association BLS is required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
• ADN is acceptable if there is a commitment to obtain BSN within three years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinically competent, patient-centered nursing care.

Salary & Compensation

The salary range for this position is $34.50 - $55.20 (Hourly Rate). Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Shift & Unit

Full Time Nights 7:00 pm–7:30 am with rotating shifts. CDH Medical Oncology (4A) — a 26‑bed specialized adult oncology/step‑down unit affiliated with the NM Warrenville Cancer Center, caring for patients 18 years of age and older with all cancer diagnoses, providing inpatient chemotherapy, symptom management, palliative and end‑of‑life/hospice care, and multidisciplinary care reliability rounds daily.

Position Overview

This Staff Nurse Inpatient reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and other regulatory and accreditation standards. A clinically competent, registered professional nurse who prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care to the acutely ill patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, and who effectively interacts with patients, significant others, and other health team members, maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice.

Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes data, identifies expected outcomes, develops and implements an individualized plan, coordinates care delivery and evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
• Directs care and determines the appropriate utilization of any assistant involved in providing direct patient care.
• Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and ancillary staff, creates a documented plan focused on outcomes and decisions related to the care and delivery of services indicating communications with patients, families, and others.
• Participates in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
• Evaluates and documents the patient’s responses to nursing interventions in the health record and properly individualizes the plan of care based on the evaluation of findings.
• Utilizes the best available evidence, including research findings, to guide practice decisions.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate with others
• Strong analytic abilities
• Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) acceptable with commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of first day of employment in a clinical nurse role.
