Job summary

Mercy Rogers is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver safe, patient-centered Med-Surg care on a 48-bed unit. The RN will use the nursing process, coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, and uphold patient rights and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a school of nursing with ADN, Diploma, or BSN.
• Current RN license in the hiring state and/or compact licensure.
• Basic Life Support certification (or within 30 days of hire).
• One or more certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., ACLS, NRP, ENPC, TNCC, CPHON, OCN, PALS, PEARS, C-EFM).

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective, patient-centered care using the nursing process.
• Evaluate care provided by other direct caregivers and coordinate patient care with interdisciplinary teams.
• Uphold patient rights, maintain confidentiality, and follow Mercy’s mission and Service Standards.

Position Details

The Medical Surgical unit, also known as Med‑Surg, is a specialty unit that makes up the foundation of nursing. The Medical Surgical unit at Mercy Rogers is a 48‑bed unit that manages acute medical surgical patients with a wide range of diagnoses and care needs. Functionally, this unit houses and cares for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. This can include care of patients with illnesses such as pneumonia and sepsis; as well as pre and post op management of pain, wound care, and monitoring for any complications post procedure. The Med‑Surg unit also manages chronic conditions such as diabetes, COPD, and chronic kidney disease. Service lines include oncology, nephrology, urology, gastroenterology, and many more. Given the generalized nature of the Med‑Surg unit and the amount of variation in patient conditions, the acuity of patients vary.

Qualifications

Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (associate's degree, Diploma, or BSN).

Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.

• PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)
• S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules
• C-EFM (Fetal Monitor Certification)
• Other unit-specific certifications as required

Physical Requirements

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
