Job summary

River Place Behavioral Health Hospital in LaPlace, LA is seeking a Registered Nurse Manager for the Evening Shift (3P-11P). BSN or higher strongly preferred; two years RN experience required; one year charge RN or admin experience required.

• Manage staff activities and coordinate safe, appropriate care between departments.
• Manage and evaluate work activities of nursing and other staff as directed.
• Recruit, hire and train new staff; identify educational needs and develop programs.
• Assist with development and implementation of facility policies and procedures.
• Prepare reports on programs, services and quality initiatives.
• Perform administrative/managerial tasks such as planning budgets.

Purpose statement: Assists the DON/CNO with directing, planning, coordinating, monitoring and supervising the effective and efficient use of the operations of nursing for assigned units. Oversees the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services in a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times. Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments and administration to ensure that all residents’ physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental and cultural needs are met and when they are not met, acknowledges and works to resolve customer complaints. Provide leadership to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as nursing practice standards. Recognizes that patient safety is a top priority.

• Responsible for recruitment, hiring and training of new staff.
• Identify the educational needs of others and develop educational or training programs.
• Assist with the development and implementation of organizational policies and procedures for the facility.
• Prepare reports to inform management of the status and implementation of programs, services and quality initiatives of the unit.
• Perform administrative or managerial functions such as planning budgets and authorizing expenditures.
• Provide direct care as needed.

Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:

• BSN or higher strongly preferred
• Current registered nursing license in State of facility required
• Three years as a registered nurse strongly preferred
• Two years of registered nursing experience required
• Two years of prior experience as a registered nursing with patient population of the facility is preferred.
• One year of prior experience with the population required
• Prior experience as a house supervisor strongly preferred
• One year of charge RN or other administrative experience required.

Licenses/Designations/Certifications:

• Current RN license as required by state.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.
