Job summary

Boston Medical Center Health Systems is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Inpatient Psychiatric 5 West unit. This position is part-time (24 hours per week) with every third weekend, 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, delivering comprehensive psychiatric nursing care.

The role requires MA RN licensure, a diploma/ASN/BSN (BSN preferred), BLS, ACLS within 90 days, and experience with EHR. Strong communication and teamwork are essential for patient and family education.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in MA.
• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred); BSN obtainable within 4 years.
• 1+ year inpatient behavioral health RN experience preferred.
• BLS certification; ACLS required within 90 days of hire.
• NIHSS certification preferred or obtained during orientation.
• Telemetry experience and EHR familiarity are preferred.
• Strong communication skills and physical ability to perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in the psychiatric inpatient unit including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and patient education.
• Communicate with health care team members, patients, and families.
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities with inter-professional staff.
• Update and manage patient records and data entry.
• Follow SEMC nursing guidelines and policies.
• Assist leadership in quality improvement projects.

Position: Registered Nurse

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver nursing care in the psychiatric inpatient including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients

• Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families

• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues

• Update and manage patient records

• Enter and interpret computerized data/information

• Follow guidelines and policies established by SEMC's nursing organization

• Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years

• 1+ years of Inpatient Behavioral Health RN experience preferred

• Certification in basic life support (BLS)

• Advanced Cardiac Life support(ACLS) certification required within 90 days of hire

• National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certificate preferred and/or completed during orientation

• Telemetry experience preferred

• Experience with electronic health record preferred

• Effective verbal and written communication skills

• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.

• Basic computer proficiency.

• Fluency in another language a plus.

Compensation Range:

$39.80- $93.69

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
