Job summary

City of Hope in Newnan, GA seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to join our infusion/oncology team. You will perform comprehensive nursing assessments, administer chemotherapy and other therapies, and coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team.

Must hold an RN license, BSN preferred, and BLS; ONS chemotherapy certification required or provider card within 30 days. Expect 9:00 am–9:30 pm shifts, 3-12s per week, with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Current state RN license required.
• BSN degree preferred or enrolled within 6 months of hire and completed within 3 years.
• BLS required; ACLS preferred.
• ONS chemotherapy certification required or provider card within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and document data in the EMR.
• Administer medications, chemotherapy/biotherapy, IV fluids and blood products.
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team and educate patients and caregivers.
• Advocate for patient rights, respond to emergencies, and ensure safe care delivery.
• Maintain infection control standards and participate in quality initiatives.

Assumes the accountability and responsibility as a professional nurse for providing total, comprehensive, continuous, and patient centered care for an assigned group of patients. Provides direct patient contact, which includes assessing the patient, developing a comprehensive nursing plan of care, implementing aspects of nursing care to meet identified patient care outcomes, evaluating the effectiveness of a nursing plan of care and education of patients/care givers who require infusion therapy and other nursing services. Follows established nursing objectives, standards, policies, and procedures. Practices within the defined scope of practice for the Registered Nurse and commits to providing safe, quality infusion nursing care.

The successful candidate:

• Must be able to work 9a-9:30p, 3-12's per week between Monday-Friday.
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments; collect and document patient data, toxicity screens, allergies, medications, and diagnostic results in the EMR.
• Identify patient needs, prioritize care, and communicate condition changes to physicians and the interdisciplinary team.
• Develop, implement, and revise individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Administer medications, chemotherapy/biotherapy, IV fluids, and blood products in accordance with ONS and hospital standards.
• Provide patient and caregiver education on disease processes, treatment side effects, procedures, and discharge instructions; document understanding.
• Recognize and respond to emergency situations; advocate for patient rights and ensure safe, ethical care delivery.
• Coordinate care across disciplines, perform effective handoffs, and uphold infection control and equipment safety standards.
• Evaluate patient outcomes, document variations in care, and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
• Delegate and supervise nursing care; support staffing needs and participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives.
• Maintain professionalism, flexibility (including floating as needed), and a collaborative, team-focused approach.

Qualifications

• Current state Registered Nurse License required
• Bachelor of Science Degree required or enrolled within 6 months of hire and completed within 3 years from hire date
• Current BLS (If not AHA certificate must be obtained 30 days of hire) required
• ACLS (If not AHA certificate must be obtained within 30 days of hire) preferred
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy certification required, If not currently ONS certified, a Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card must be obtained within 30 days of hire
• Minimum 2 years in oncology and/or medical-surgical units preferred
• Experience in multi-disciplinary approach to patient care
• Excellent infusion therapy-related skills (peripheral and central lines)
