Job summary

Lone Star Oncology is seeking an Experienced Registered Nurse to join our infusion team in Texas. You will provide safe, accurate patient care including assessments, labs review, and dose verification while following JBIs and OSHA/NIOSH guidelines.

You will educate patients and families about medications, monitor for side effects, and support triage calls. EMR documentation is essential; travel to multiple clinic locations may be required.

Qualifications

• RN license in state of employment (or multi-state) is required.
• Current CPR and BLS certifications are mandatory.
• Experience with hematology/oncology patients preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy and supportive care as ordered.

Follows all Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) associated with role. Provides triage care when necessary. Communicates patient condition effectively to multidisciplinary team members.# **Key Performance Areas:**# Safely and accurately administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care, and non-oncologic agents to patients as ordered by providers. Will use Oncology Nurse’s Society (ONS) standards and guidelines. Accurate and safe disposal of biohazardous waste, per OSHA and NIOSH guidelines. Responsible for new and ongoing patient education, continual patient assessment, and support. Documentation: Thorough, accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) of treatment rendered to patients. Ensure appropriate charges are captured by following guidelines for appropriate administration of all medications and activities. Will follow proper patient identification per JBI for all patient encounters. Teaching: Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects and planned treatment course. Interact with patient and family in a caring, professional manner. Telephone triage: Includes prioritizing incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices from emergent to non-urgent. Must respond accordingly in an appropriate time frame. Supplies: Includes assisting with inventory and re-stocking medical supplies, recommend purchase of new items as needed. Place stock in storage areas in a timely manner. Complete annual required safety and nursing trainings. Attend all mandatory staff meetings as necessary. Always maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information. Assist in training new employees related to job duties according to JBIs. Will be expected to work at any Company location to help meet the Company’s business needs on an as-needed basis, within reasonable expectations.
