The Registered Nurse provides important care coordination and compassionate patient management for the acutely or chronically ill patient with dialysis requirements. The Registered Nurse is responsible for astute physical assessment and appropriate intervention according to best nursing practice standards. In this role, the Registered Nurses are expected to have a baseline understanding of the mechanics of dialysis to include all modalities, clinical indicators of renal failure, psychosocial needs of a patient with renal failure and dialysis emergency preparedness.
