Overview

The Employee Health Nurse provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation). The role directs and leads other team members, collaborates with the multidisciplinary team and delivers age and development‑appropriate care while maintaining a patient‑family centered approach that addresses physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious and environmental needs. The nurse creates and implements nursing diagnoses, outcome identification, planning, and interventions, coordinates care, teaches health promotion, evaluates goals and interventions in accordance with MUSC policies and maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment through privacy protection and respectful professional behavior.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients in line with the nursing process.
• Direct and lead assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary staff.
• Deliver age/developmentally appropriate care in compliance with nursing standards of care and practice.
• Provide patient/family centered care focused on physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
• Assess patients, develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and implement interventions, coordinate care and evaluate effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Registered nurse licensure by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA BLS or equivalent) or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required for most nursing areas within the hospital.
