Job summary

The Infusion Nurse at Hollings Clinics within MUSC Health provides individualized patient care using the nursing process, delivering safe and effective care and collaborating with the health care team to achieve optimal outcomes.

Requirements include RN licensure (SC or compact state), current BLS certification, and a minimum of two years RN experience. BSN preferred with enrollment if only associates/diploma held; chemotherapy certification if double-checking is needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred; RNs with an Associate or Diploma must enroll in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain BSN within four years of hire or reclassification.

  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the SC Board of Nursing or a compact state is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer).
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification is required if independently double-checking chemotherapy.

Job Description Summary

The Infusion Nurse in Hollings Clinics reports to the Unit Manager. Under general supervision, the Infusion Nurse provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013, with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. Refer to policy A141 for more details. A minimum of two years of work experience as a registered nurse is required.

Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state is required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or an AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Current Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification issued by Oncology Nursing Society is required if independently double-checking chemotherapy.
