Job summary

Kaweah Health in Visalia, CA is seeking a dedicated NICU Team Leader to serve as a primary clinical resource on the unit. You will mentor staff, model professional behavior, and collaborate with the Nurse Manager to ensure safe, high‑quality patient care.

You will lead staffing, coordinate admissions and transfers, oversee shift reports, and contribute to policy development and quality improvement efforts while supporting patient autonomy and family engagement.

Qualifications

• CA RN license required.
• BLS certification required.
• NRP Provider within six months of hire/transfer required.
• Preferred: specialty experience or nationally recognized certificate.

Responsibilities

• Acts as the primary clinical resource for staff on the unit.
• Mentors staff and supports nurse preceptors during orientation.
• Represents the Nurse Manager in their absence and provides leadership on the floor.
• Leads staffing and patient flow, assigns admissions/transfers, and ensures timely shift reports.
• Contributes to development and implementation of policies and practice guidelines to improve care.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate clinical practice and health services.

QUALIFICATIONS

License /Certification

• Required:
• CA RN license
• BLS
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider within six months of hire/transfer.

• Preferred: Specialty experience or nationally recognized certificate or proof of specialty training program completion.

Education

• Preferred: BSN, MSN, or currently enrolled in RN‑BSN program.

TEAM LEADER:

Is a primary clinical resource for staff on assigned unit. Is a role model and mentor for staff. Acts as the Nurse Manager Representative in his/her absence. Provides leadership and support for staff through effective problem solving and decision making.

Manages Staff and Patient flow:

• Assigns admissions and arranges transfers in coordination with the Nurse Manager, House Supervisor and/or Bed Coordinator.
• Assures that shift report starts on time.
• Monitors breaks to provide adequate staffing.
• Determines staffing needs for the next shift and communicates those needs to the Staff Facilitator or Nursing Supervisor.
• Assigns staff to ensure equipment checks are completed: PCX controls, crash ca
