Job summary

Volunteers of America Northern Rockies seeks a Registered Nurse to support outpatient and residential services. You will administer prescribed medications, monitor patient status, and coordinate with medical staff to ensure quality care.

The role requires Wyoming RN licensure, and a BSN is preferred. Expect full-time hours, outpatient clinic environment, and regular collaboration with therapists and program staff.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medication as prescribed by the provider.
  • Provide medication management education and assess effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with physician, therapist, and other staff in treatment planning.
  • Maintain accurate treatment records and ensure proper documentation in EHR.
  • Monitor vital signs and report concerns to physician.
  • Assist in program development and staff meetings as needed.

Summary/Objective

Assists the medical professionals in providing prescription services to the Volunteers of America Community in order to maintain mental wellness and coordinate treatment.

Essential Functions
  • Administration of medication, as ordered and prescribed by the provider.
  • Provides medication management services.
  • Provides education regarding side effects and assesses effectiveness of medication.
  • Notifies physician of side effects or other concerns and/or lack of effectiveness.
  • Arranges medication refills, as ordered and prescribed.
  • Promotes wellness and provides education about health issues.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationship with other community providers.
  • Coordinates with other Volunteers of America staff and other community providers in collaborative treatment.
  • Prepares needed reports of treatment as requested.
  • Maintains case records to reflect course of treatment.
  • Adheres to Volunteers of America's policies and procedures regarding proper documentation in the EHR and Dr's First.
  • Provides follow up and aftercare planning services as needed.
  • Provides program and case consultation and education services internally, as well as to other community groups and individuals.
  • Participates in agency program development activities as needed.
  • Attends staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and other activities as assigned by supervisory staff.
  • Monitors lab reports and relays results to the physician, client, and therapist.
  • Monitors vital signs, as ordered by the physician.
  • May collaborate with the on-call therapist, in conjunction with the medical provider.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Competencies
  • Ability to effectively work with a variety of computer software programs, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Desktop Publishing
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the organization.

Work Environment

This job operates in a outpatient facility environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.

The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Some travel is required for this position.
