Job summary

UPMC in Steubenville, OH is seeking a Registered Nurse responsible for delivering patient care using the nursing process. The role requires assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in collaboration with the health care team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Possess current licensure in Ohio as an RN.
• BLS Provider upon hire, prior to start date.
• ACLS provider or obtained within 12 months of hire.
• PALS Certification or obtained within 12 months of hire.
• BLS or CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process in providing patient care.
• Performs assessments through data collection of patient's status and health history.
• Plans patient care with individualized care and family input.
• Implements physician orders and care plan interventions on schedule.
• Evaluates and prioritizes patient care decisions and communicates with care providers.
• Educates patient and family to meet healthcare needs and learning barriers.
• Responds to emergencies as needed.
• Adheres to medication administration system and safety requirements.
• Complies with system-wide competencies and behaviors.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; Ohio licensure required.

Job description

As an employee of Trinity Health System, it is the responsibility of this and all positions within the Hospital to support the mission and role of Trinity Health System.

The employee also performs all job duties in compliance with laws and regulation in the observance of accrediting agency standards. The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Registered Nurse will maintain standards of professional nursing care according to the competency criteria. The Registered Nurse participates inpatient/family teaching and discharge planning. Works cooperatively with ancillary nursing personnel and other departments.

Responsibilities:

• Utilizes the nursing process (assess, plan, implement, evaluate, educate) in providing patient care.
• Performs assessments through data collection of patient`s physical and psychosocial status and health history.
• Plans patient care through individualization of care and incorporates patient/family input.
• Implement physician orders, treatments, care plan interventions according to schedule in a timely manner.
• Evaluates and prioritizes patient care decisions and communicates relevant information to care providers.
• Educates the patient and family if applicable to meet the health care needs utilizing assessment of learning needs according to patient`s abilities, readiness to learn and barriers to learning.
• Participates and responds appropriately to emergency situations.
• Utilizes the medication administration system and is in compliance with requirements.
• Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
