Job summary

MiraVista Behavioral Health Center in Holyoke, MA is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for our geriatric inpatient behavioral health unit with 12-hour shifts, 7:00 am–7:30 pm, including every other weekend and holiday rotation.

The RN provides comprehensive nursing care, assesses patients, develops care plans, administers medications, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to support older adults in a therapeutic milieu.

Qualifications

• Valid MA RN license required.
• BSN preferred; nursing degree from accredited program.
• Experience in psychiatric or inpatient substance use disorders is preferred.
• Experience with dementia, cognitive impairment, depression, anxiety, or behavioral disturbances is a plus.

Every other weekend and holiday rotation required. Are you a compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults? Join our dedicated behavioral health team and provide specialized nursing care to geriatric patients in a supportive inpatient behavioral setting. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to geriatric patients receiving inpatient behavioral health treatment. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing patients, developing and implementing individualized plans of care, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient progress, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary treatment team. As a Registered Nurse (RN): You will be an active participant in the health care team who provides direct and indirect care to geriatric patients in an inpatient behavioral health setting as well as their families, and legal guardians. You're responsible for assessing the patient's physical and psychological condition on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care. You'll utilize the components of the nursing process in accordance with the philosophy, objectives, values, mission, and core principles of MiraVista Behavioral Health Center. Provide nursing care to geriatric and adult behavioral health patients, recognizing the unique medical, psychiatric, cognitive, and safety needs of the geriatric population. Provide compassionate support and appropriate redirection to patients experiencing anxiety, confusion, agitation, depression, behavioral changes, or cognitive impairment. You're responsible for maintaining a safe therapeutic milieu grounded in our core values. You will work collaboratively as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team and contribute to each patient's treatment plan by helping develop, implement, and document appropriate goals and interventions, informed by patient strengths and presenting psychiatric problems. The Registered Nurse (RN) will have the following: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts required. A graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred. Previous Experience Is Preferred In Psychiatric, Or Substance Use Disorders inpatient, restraint reduction, de-escalation, and crisis intervention. Experience working with patients experiencing dementia, cognitive impairment, depression, anxiety, or behavioral disturbances preferred. Advanced knowledge of behavioral health and substance use disorders treatment modalities. Understanding of the Trauma-Informed Recovery model of care. Valid CPR certification. Crisis management and time management skills; and exhibit flexibility, creativity, be able to multi-task, and ability to manage stressful situations in a calm, organized and professional manner.
