Job summary

CARIN Alliance in Washington, DC is seeking a staff nurse to provide patient-centered reproductive health care, interpret orders, assess patient needs, and exercise sound nursing judgment within a healthcare team.

You will maintain confidentiality, support collaboration, and assist in identifying changing health center needs, performing duties from family planning to medication education, injections, and basic ultrasound, with after-hours triage as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing school.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in relevant jurisdictions.
• CPR/BLS certified.
• With at least 2 years of related experience.
• Ambulatory surgical experience and a customer service focus are preferred.
• Ability to delegate duties and serve as a resource to clinicians is essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain confidential medical records, document patient information, respond to patient inquiries, and utilize electronic health systems effectively.
• Provide family planning, contraception, and abortion information, along with accurate medication education and proper medication labeling.
• Assist with patient exams, perform routine lab tests, and conduct invasive procedures such as injections and venipuncture.
• Perform limited pelvic ultrasounds, monitor IV therapies, and administer medications, including sedation when authorized.
• Recognize and respond to emergency situations, institute protocols, and participate in after-hours triage and follow-up care.
• Contribute to risk management activities, document adverse reactions, and support quality improvement initiatives.
