St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, part of St. David’s HealthCare, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Fast-Track Emergency Department (FSED) in Leander.

The RN will influence patient care through collaborative relationships and participate in hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. Responsibilities include pain management, documentation, and teaching patients and families about care plans and lifestyle changes.

Qualifications

• RN (Registered Nurse) required.
• Associate Degree required.
• ACLS, BCLS, ENPC, NIH Stroke Scale, PALS, TNCC certifications required within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient pain regularly and promotes effective pain management.
• Performs procedures and documents care in the medical record.
• Responds promptly to patient requests to deliver exceptional care.
• Educates patients, families, and caregivers about conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up measures.
• Prepares patients and families for self-management after discharge.

You'll help shape decisions that elevate both patient outcomes and the future of nursing.

Job Summary And Qualifications

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

What qualifications you will need:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Cour must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
• NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
