Job summary

UVA Community Health in Manassas, VA is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to join the Float Pool, providing continuous quality patient care across multiple units during night shifts.

Candidates must have at least 2 years of RN experience; BSN preferred. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible candidates, with on-call duties and occasional travel between campus locations.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Experience: 2 years in critical care or ED; 1 year in medical-surgical/telemetry (Team 2) or 2 years in L&D/NICU (Team 3).
• Licensure: Current compact RN licensure in applicable state.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NVCI; Specialty certs welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous quality patient care across multiple units as part of the Float Pool.
• Staff coverage to meet unit needs during night shifts.

Job Summary

Registered Nurse Floaters are responsible for providing continuous quality patient care in a variety of settings. The Float Pool RN is part of a resource team that is assigned to varying units during their shift to ensure that patient care needs are met. These RNs possess the skills, competency, and qualifications, as well as a requirement to work in several different clinical areas. This group shall be known as the Float Pool. These employees are a part of Patient Care Services. There are three RN teams in the float Pool, RN Team 1, Specialty Track/ CCU, RN Team 2, Inpatient Acute, and RN Team 3, Women' Services.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree preferred - BSN preferred.

• Experience: Team 1 (Specialty/CCU): Minimum of 2 years in critical care or ED setting required.
• Experience: Team 2 (Inpatient Acute): Minimum of1 year general medical surgical/telemetry experience required.
• Experience: Team 3 (Women's Services): Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, or NICU required.
• Experience: All teams require Cardiac Dysrhythmia test or successful completion of the Cardiac Dysrhythmia course within 6 months of hire. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
• Licensure: Current compact RN licensure in applicable state required.
• Additional Skills/Requirements Required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NVCI.
• Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Specialty Certification, Chemo Certification, Triage Course, NRP.

The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

Physical Demand Code: Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.
