Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Milton, Inc. is seeking experienced float pool RNs for per diem coverage across adult medical-surgical and telemetry units.

The role requires at least a current RN license in Massachusetts and BLS certification, with holidays and a monthly weekend shift expectation. You will work with multiple units, leveraging nursing process, patient teaching, and collaboration with the care team to deliver high-quality care while adhering to safety and infection control

Qualifications

• Recent acute Medical/Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience preferred.
• Current licensure as a Registered nurse by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association before hire.
• Vaccination against influenza (flu) is required.
• Infection control precautions training and compliance are expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care using the Nursing Process: assess health status, interpret data, plan and implement care, evaluate outcomes, document clearly.
• Respect diverse cultural beliefs and practices in patient care.
• Utilize interpreter services for patients with limited English proficiency.
• Provide and coordinate health teaching for patients and/or representatives.
• Collaborate with health care team to ensure quality and continuity of care.
• Care for age-appropriate patients and seek resources for other age groups as needed.
• Maintain competencies and adhere to safety policies and standard precautions.
• May serve as charge nurse and participate in unit QA studies and meetings.
• Attend trainings and participate in orientation and departmental activities.
• Assist in ordering and upkeep of supplies as assigned.
• Assess and manage care for patients undergoing procedures and telemetry monitoring.
• Provide care for various medical/surgical diagnoses.

Schedule

Float Pool | Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Milton Schedule. Per diem commitment of 16 hours per month minimum required. One winter holiday and one summer holiday required. One weekend shift per month.

Where You'll Work

Float Pool nurses provide care across multiple adult medical-surgical and telemetry units, including 2 East, 2 North, and 3 North. You'll support a variety of patient needs while working with teams across the hospital, offering flexibility, collaboration, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact wherever you're needed most.

What You'll Do

• Provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process: systematically assesses the health status of the patient, analyzes and interprets data and makes nursing judgments regarding care plans, implements and coordinates nursing interventions, evaluates outcome of nursing interventions, revises/updates plan of care, documents nursing process clearly and concisely.
• Considers specific cultural beliefs and practices when caring for patients.
• Utilizes interpreter services for patients with limited English proficiency.
• Provides and coordinates health teaching for patient and/or patient representative.
• Collaborates, cooperates and communicates with other health care providers to ensure quality and continuity of care.
• Provides care appropriate to the age groups of patients regularly served; seeks assistance for resources of other age groups that need care.
• Employee maintains competencies (position specific and hospital-wide) required for the specific patient population served.
• Adheres to standard precautions.
• Assumes the role of the charge nurse as necessary.
• Actively participates in unit-based Q.A. studies and unit meetings.
• May participate as a member of nursing committees, in-services and orientation programs as directed.
• Attends and/or participates in in-house or outside training programs to improve and augment skills and knowledge.
• Shall assist in the ordering and upkeep of supplies as assigned by the Nurse Manager.
• Effectively assesses and manages care issues related to all patients undergoing operative/procedural/medical procedures.
• Provides care for the patient requiring telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition.
• Provides care to a variety of medical/surgical patients with a range of diagnoses, including, but not limited to, Neurological, Orthopedic, Respiratory, Renal, Cardiac.
• Performs all duties in accordance with safety and other laws, rules, and regulations set forth by appropriate regulatory and government agencies and in accordance with established department and hospital policies and procedures.
• May be required to perform similar or related duties as may be necessary on an emergency basis or as designated by the department manager or supervisor.
• The nature of the tasks/responsibilities required of employees in this position will likely expose them to blood and body fluids.
• Employees will be oriented to and required to understand and follow the standard precautions for infection control.

Pay

Pay Range: $36.00 - $90.14 The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
