Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a licensed RN for night shifts on a 24-hour per week schedule. The role emphasizes nursing process, independent patient care, medication administration, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Graduate of an accredited nursing program with ADN required; BSN preferred. CPR/BLS within 90 days and unit-specific certifications may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed RN in the state of practice.
• CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP may be required per unit.
• May require experience per department guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to care for patients.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per standards of care and state law.
• Document according to standards of care and regulatory requirements.
• Assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient care.
• Develop and execute individualized plans of care with physician or clinic policy guidance.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and unit governance.
• Provide clinical guidance to other units to support longitudinal care.
• Monitor patient safety and escalate as needed; participate in peer review.

Job description

Overview

Provides compassionate nursing care to patients in a clinical setting while supporting the Mercyhealth nursing mission and values. May include variable shifts, weekends, holidays, and/or on‑call hours. May also float to different units based on staffing needs and clinical competency. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Schedule: 24 hours per week

Shift: Nights/12 Hour Shifts

Duties and Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and state laws practice act.
• Documents according to standards of care.
• Performs assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care.
• Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by physician and/or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.
• Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.
• Provides clinical expertise and guidance to other units’ departments in support of the patient's longitudinal plan of care.
• Employs critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command.
• Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions and peer review process.

Education and Experience

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

ADN required upon hire; BSN preferred.

May require specific years of applicable experience to qualify (per department guidelines).

Certification or Licensure

• Licensed as an RN in the state of practice.
• Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days.
• Other certifications per unit requirements (e.g., ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP).

Additional Requirements

• Passing the driver's license check and/or credit check (for positions requiring).
• Passing the WI caregiver background check and/or IL health care workers background check.
• Must be able to follow written or oral instructions.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay Range

$34.45 – $60.87 per hour
