Job summary

Good Shepherd Rehabilitation seeks a registered nurse to join our rehabilitation team. You will deliver comprehensive nursing care, collaborate with physicians and a multidisciplinary team, and educate patients and families on conditions, medications, and self-care.

The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and performance improvement within a supportive policy framework. The position requires an RN license, an Associate's Degree or Diploma (Bachelor's preferred), and 1–2 years of ICU/telemetry

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • 1-2 years of intensive care or telemetry experience preferred.
  • Registered Nurse license required.
  • Basic Life Support / CPR required; ACLS and PALS must be acquired within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary team members; delegate and evaluate care assigned to LPNs and CNAs to meet patient care needs.
  • Uses the nursing process as a framework to deliver care by establishing or contributing to a plan of care with the patient/resident including a teaching plan, within 24 hours of admission; establish prioritization of goals.
  • Provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients/residents, friends, and families.
  • Educate patients and families on condition, medications, and self-care skills; demonstrate competence in age-specific care across pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
  • Adhere to standards, regulations, and quality improvement activities; document care and maintain confidentiality; ensure a safe and clean environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; delegate and evaluate care assigned to LPNs and CNAs to meet patient care needs.
IDENTIFIES PATIENT/RESIDENT CARE REQUIREMENTS
  • By establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients/residents and other persons in a position to understand care requirements.
  • Uses the nursing process as a framework to deliver care by establishing or contributing to a plan of care with the patient/resident including a teaching plan, within 24 hours of admission;
  • establishing or contributing to prioritization of goals appropriate to the patient's/resident's age and ability to learn;
  • estimated length of stay, medical diagnoses and discharge plan;
  • identifying nursing care needs, writing nursing interventions and identifying educational objectives appropriate to care standards;
  • by reassessing and documenting the effectiveness of nursing actions and the patients/residents progress toward goals as the patient's/resident's condition changes;
  • by communicating the plan and patient/resident progress to the interdisciplinary team.

  • By documenting delivery of services, changes in patient/resident condition and the patients/residents response to nursing interventions in the medical record according to policies and procedures.

  • By keeping information confidential.
MAINTAINS SAFE AND CLEAN WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  • By complying with procedures, rules, and regulations;

QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
Work Experience
  • Previous med-surg experience or rehabilitation experience preferred
  • 1-2 years of intensive care or telemetry experience preferred
Licenses / Certifications
  • Registered Nurse license required
  • Basic Life Support / CPR, as a healthcare provider, per the American Heart Association required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support/ACLS (must be acquired within the first 6 months of employment).
  • PALS certification preferred for all staff (must be acquired within the first 6 months of employment).
