Job summary

St Mary's Hospital in Kankakee, IL, part of Prime Healthcare, seeks a Staff RN Float for the Float Pool. Full-time; delivers safe patient care across multiple units, directing patient/family teaching, and coordinating with physicians on patient condition and diagnostics.

Requires active RN license, BLS/ALS certifications, plus PALS/ENPC and 1 year acute care experience. BSN preferred; EMTALA knowledge essential. Sign-on bonus available.

Responsibilities

The Staff RN Float is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care across multiple units within credentialed competency levels, supporting coverage where demand exceeds core staffing. Practices as a fully accountable registered nurse in variable patient care units, is expected to orient quickly, seek information deliberately, and maintain the same level of care regardless of the setting. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care. They communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Can respond quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
