Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL is seeking an experienced Staff Nurse Inpatient to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced medical unit.

You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for acutely ill patients, collaborate with physicians and a multidisciplinary team, and participate in shared governance. A BSN or ADN with commitment to BSN is required along with IL RN license and BLS; ACLS/PALS/TNCC as applicable.

Qualifications

• BSN or ADN with commitment to obtain BSN within three years.
• Illinois RN license in good standing.
• Basic Life Support certification required.
• ER requires ACLS, PALS/ENPC & TNCC within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate nursing care for acutely ill patients through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Interact with patients and health team while maintaining ANA standards of practice.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans and evaluate progress.
• Direct care and utilization of any assistants involved in direct patient care.
• Collaborate with patient, family, physicians and staff with a documented plan.
• Participate in shared governance, committees and unit projects.
• Evaluate and document patient responses and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Utilize evidence to guide practice decisions.

The salary range for this position is $37.00 - $59.20 (Hourly Rate)

Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

The Staff Nurse Inpatient reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

• A clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who prescribes, delegates and coordinates nursing care to the acutely ill patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation.
• Effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice.
• Collects and analyzes data, identifies expected outcomes, develops and implements an individualized plan, coordinates care delivery and evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
• Directs care and determines the appropriate utilization of any assistant involved in providing direct patient care.
• Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and ancillary staff. Creates a documented plan, focused on outcomes and decisions related to the care and delivery of services that indicates communications with patients, families, and others.
• Participates in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
• Evaluates and documents the patient’s responses to nursing interventions in the health record and properly individualizes the plan of care based on the evaluation of findings.
• Utilizes the best available evidence, including research findings to guide practice decisions.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or associate degree Nursing (ADN) with commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of first day of employment in clinical nurse role.
