Job summary

Inova Loudoun Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse Fellow (RN) for the Observation Unit in Leesburg, VA. This part-time role runs 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday with occasional weekends, offering exposure to cardiac, neurological, medical, and surgical patients in a fast-paced, ER-like environment.

Ideal candidates hold a BSN and have at least one year of RN acute care experience; Virginia licensure or eNLC privileges and BLS are required on start.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited nursing program; ADN holders must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• Minimum 1 year RN clinical experience in an acute care setting.
• Licensed RN in Virginia or privilege to practice in Virginia under eNLC; BLS for Healthcare Providers required at start.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting data and trends.
• Formulate individualized care plans based on assessments.
• Deliver patient- and family-centered care across the continuum of care.
• Advocate for patients and provide counseling to resolve issues.
• Coordinate care with other disciplines for patient transitions.
• Document all patient care activities per standards and assist with documentation.
• Evaluate processes and revise care plans based on outcomes.
• Support clinical decision making and staff development.

Inova Loudoun Hospital is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse who are looking to grow to join the Observation team. This role will be part-time day shift from Monday – Friday (including some weekends), 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Registered Nurse Fellow (RN) Observation Job Responsibilities:

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their relationships.
• Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
• Conducts all patient care in a patient and family centered manner, integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
• Advocates for patients' rights from the patient and family perspective and provides counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues.
• Accesses resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning.
• Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation.
• Evaluates the process to achieve outcomes, anticipates patient variances and makes revisions to plans of care.
• Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data and intuition while promoting the development of clinical decision making of all team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education:BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an associate’s degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• Experience: Requires a minimum of 1-year Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting.
• Certification:Currently licensedas a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in an acute care hospital setting highly preferred.
