Southwest Health System in Cortez, Colorado seeks a compassionate Registered Nurse for the Family Birthing Center in a part-time role. You will deliver safe, family-centered care to mothers and newborns, collaborating with physicians and the care team to ensure excellent outcomes.

The position requires ADN with CO RN licensure (compact accepted) and certifications such as BLS and ACLS/NRP within specified timelines.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • ADN required; BSN preferred.
  • Current CO RN license; compact license accepted.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS within 6 months (12 months for new grads).
  • NRP certification required within 6 months (12 months for new grads).
  • Basic Fetal Monitoring course within 4 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver family-centered nursing care to mothers, newborns, and families.
  • Assess, monitor, and respond to maternal and newborn conditions.
  • Educate patients and families through pregnancy, labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
  • Utilize EHR and clinical technology to support evidence-based practice.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies and patient safety standards.

Position Summary

As a Registered Nurse in the Family Birthing Center, you'll provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care for mothers, newborns, and families throughout the childbirth experience. Working collaboratively with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team, you'll assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care while promoting positive patient outcomes and an exceptional patient experience.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver compassionate, patient- and family-centered nursing care.
  • Assess, monitor, and evaluate maternal and newborn conditions.
  • Recognize changes in patient status and respond appropriately.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care.
  • Educate patients and families throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and newborn care.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
  • Utilize electronic health records and clinical technology to support evidence-based practice.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and patient safety standards.
Qualifications
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Licensure & Certifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Colorado.
  • Compact RN license accepted. Colorado licensure must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire (12 months for new graduate RNs).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 6 months of hire (12 months for new graduate RNs).
  • Successful completion of a Basic Fetal Monitoring Course within 4 months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding customer service and patient advocacy.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
