City of Hope in Illinois is seeking a Registered Nurse for ER Nights to provide direct, compassionate care in a fast-paced emergency setting, including triage, assessment, and rapid response. The role supports lifesaving protocols and patient safety.

The qualifications include 1 year emergency or critical care experience, Illinois RN license, BLS/ACLS/PALS on hire, NIHSS within 6 months, and ONCC oncology certification when eligible.

Qualifications

• Graduate of NLNAC or CCNE nursing program.
• State of Illinois Registered Nurse license.
• BLS certification on hire and maintained.
• ACLS certification on hire and maintained.
• PALS certification on hire or within 6 months.
• NIHSS certification within 6 months and maintained.
• ONCC oncology certification when eligible or 18 oncology CE every 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, compassionate care to patients in a fast-paced emergency setting, including triaging, assessing, and prioritizing care needs.
• Perform clinical assessments, administer medications, monitor vital signs, and provide treatment per department protocols.
• Manage complex patient situations using critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and assist in life-saving procedures such as CPR and other protocols.
• Read and operate cardiac monitors, recognize rhythms, and institute appropriate interventions.
• Attend in-house code blue and rapid response calls as required.
• Work 3 12-hour shifts, 7p–7a.

The successful candidate:

• Provide direct, compassionate care to patients in a fast-paced emergency setting, including triaging, assessing, and prioritizing care needs.
• Perform clinical assessments, administer medications, monitor vital signs, and provide treatment in alignment with department protocols and patient needs.
• Manage complex patient situations, utilizing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations and assist in life‑saving procedures such as CPR, and other emergency protocols.
• Ability to work well under pressure and in fast-paced environments.
• Demonstrates competence in patient triage and medical screening exams using the established protocols
• Demonstrates knowledge and use of vasoactive medications
• Ability to read and operate cardiac monitor, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms, and institute appropriate interventions
• Quickly identifies signs and symptoms of emergent and/or life‑threatening conditions and demonstrates skills to follow appropriate protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure goal times are met
• Attend in‑house code blue and rapid response calls, as required
• Must be able to work 3 12's, 7p‑7a

Qualifications

• 1 year emergency or critical care experience
• Graduate of NLNAC or CCNE school of Nursing
• State of Illinois Registered Nurse License.
• BLS certification upon hire and maintained in position.
• ACLS upon hire and maintained in position
• PALS certification upon hire or obtained within 6 months of hire and maintained in position.
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within 6 months of hire and maintained in position.
• Oncology Certification through ONCC when eligible or 6 oncology CE every year (18 oncology CE total every 3 years) for the Oncology Commission Cancer cycle.
