Job summary

Crossing Rivers Health seeks a Registered Nurse for Emergency Services in Prairie du Chien, WI. This full-time role offers 12-hour shifts (3pm–3:30am), with an every-other-weekend rotation, and a relocation grant through Driftless Development.

The RN will work in a 24/7 in-house ED supported by hospitalists and EMS staff. You will provide patient-centered care, perform assessments, administer medications, and collaborate with the care team.

Qualifications

• RN must hold a nursing degree and be licensed in Wisconsin.
• Certification requirements include BLS, ACLS; TNCC/ENPC/PALS within 1 year.
• Experience in Emergency Services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in Emergency Services using nursing process.
• Assess patients and perform planning, interventions, and evaluation.
• Identify dysrhythmias and assist in emergent care as directed by physicians.
• Administer medications and document accurately per policy.
• Collaborate with physicians and EMTs in a team setting.
• Prepare patients for examinations and treatment; maintain patient privacy.

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Services Department will be clinically competent while delivering care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, interventions, implementation and evaluation. The RN will effectively interact with patients and other health care team members while maintaining all standards of professional nursing. A key aspect of the work of nursing is to continually improve the quality of nursing care by collecting and analyzing data. The RN works in a team environment with the following but not limited to: Providers and Emergency Medical Technicians. The Emergency Services RN reports to the Emergency Services Director.

Job Functions:

• Provides direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific principles.
• Conducts assessments and reassessments on all patients per policy/condition warrants, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
• Assesses hemodynamic status and recognize abnormalities.
• Identifies cardiac dysrhythmias and treat appropriately as directed by the physician.
• Assists in relevant health teaching for patient and family.
• Shares responsibility for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
• Prepares, administers, and records medications in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a registered nurse.
• Participates in appropriate emergency care.
• Records information concisely, accurately and completely according to facility policy.
• Assists in the orientation of new personnel/acts as preceptor when requested.
• Demonstrates awareness, understanding and respect of cultural diversity and patients of all ages and socioeconomic groups.
• Direct or oversee less-experienced nursing or healthcare personnel.
• Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.

Requirements

Education

• Associate’s Degree (two year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Nursing
• Bachelor’s Degree ( four year college) Preferred, Field of Study: Nursing

Experience

• Six months experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing preferred.
• Experience in Emergency Services preferred

Computer Skills

• Basic computer proficiency
• Epic experience preferred

Certifications and Licenses

• Active Registered Nurse License with ability to practice in State of Wisconsin
• BLS and ACLS required
• TNCC or ATCN and ENPC or PALS completed within 1 year of being signed off as orientated to the ED.
