Job summary

St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee, IL, part of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Services department. The role involves full-time night shifts (7p–7:30a) in a busy telemetry ED, with a $10,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.

Qualified applicants must hold an active RN license, BLS, ALS, PALS/ENPC, and ideally a BSN. CEN is preferred. Competitive compensation ranges from $35.35–$53.58 per hour plus comprehensive benefits and tuition reimbursement

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• BLS certificate upon hire and maintained.
• ALS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained.
• PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 60 days of hire and maintained.
• CEN certification preferred.
• BSN degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care using the nursing process in Telemetry, with direct patient care in the ED.
• Direct patient/family teaching and coordinate with other nurses while maintaining professional standards.
• Communicate changes in patient condition and results of diagnostics to the physician.
• Ensure EMTALA compliance and report abuse to the appropriate authorities.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department. They communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current and valid state RN License.2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.3. Current ALS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current. 4. Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 60 days upon hire and maintain current. 5. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.6. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):

1. ECRN or MICN certificate required within 12 months of hire and maintained current 2. EDAP certified facilities: Completion of required annual education 3. Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.4. Trauma designated facilities: Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required within 12 months of hire and maintain. Non-trauma facilities, TNCC preferred.
