Job summary

Anderson Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department to provide direct patient care across all ages, from newborns to geriatrics. The role emphasizes autonomous practice within Illinois Nursing Act standards and collaboration with an ED physician and multidisciplinary team.

You will perform focused assessments, document outcomes, and educate patients and families about care plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up needs.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited nursing program.
• Illinois licensed or eligible to practice.
• CPR required; ACLS/TNCC/PALS or ENPC preferred.
• Emergency Department or critical care experience preferred.
• Orientation, annual competency standards, mandatory training and unit-specific education.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care using the nursing process to ensure optimal outcomes across pediatric to geriatric populations.
• Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team led by the Emergency Department Physician.
• Performs focused assessments and continuous documentation.
• Completes pain assessments and evaluates interventions.
• Educates patients and families, documents readiness to learn, and assesses barriers to learning.
• Maintains accurate, timely documentation per hospital policies.
• Participates in committees, projects, and acts as preceptor or charge nurse when requested.
• Exhibits leadership and autonomy while utilizing the chain of command as needed.
• Delivers discharge instructions and ensures patient/family understanding, with appropriate referrals when required.

Works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team led by the Emergency Department Physician to meet the individualized need of the patient and family. Will practice within the parameters of the Illinois Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing Act and Anderson Hospital policies and procedures.
