Job summary

Birch Agency is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse for a Contract position in the West Chester, PA Emergency Room. The ER RN will provide urgent, patient-centered care in a fast-paced hospital setting, performing triage, monitoring, medication administration, and life-saving interventions.

Shifts are 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM with hourly pay ranging from $47 to $56. Must hold an active RN license in the state and comply with BLS, ACLS, and related requirements.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the applicable state.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required; PALS preferred or required based on facility needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform rapid assessments and triage patients based on acuity and clinical needs.
• Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, and changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and other prescribed treatments.
• Initiate and assist with emergency interventions, procedures, and resuscitation efforts.
• Operate and monitor emergency and other advanced medical equipment.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals.
• Provide care for patients with medical, surgical, traumatic, cardiac, neurological, and other emergent conditions.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient documentation.
• Support patient transfers, admissions, discharges, and coordination of follow-up care.
• Follow hospital policies, emergency department protocols, infection-control standards, and safety procedures.
• Provide compassionate care while maintaining patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse provides timely, efficient, and patient-centered care to individuals experiencing a wide range of illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies. The Emergency Room Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, prioritizing, and treating patients in a fast-paced hospital environment. This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and effective collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in the applicable state.
• Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred or required based on facility needs.
• All required background clearances must be completed and maintained.

Work Environment

This position is based in a fast-paced hospital emergency department serving patients with a broad range of conditions and acuity levels. The Registered Nurse must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the facility.
