Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN/BSN/Diploma).
• Current RN license in Oklahoma or a compact state.
• BLS and required certifications within established timeframes.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient assessment skills.
• ED experience or ACLS/PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for ED patients.
• Prioritize patient needs and respond rapidly to changing conditions.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Handoff patients using SBAR and bedside reporting.

Position Overview

Mercy Hospital Ada is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department team. The RN utilizes the nursing process to provide patient-centered care while collaborating with physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary team members.

Emergency Department Nurse Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for emergency department patients
• Prioritize patient needs and respond rapidly to changes in condition
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed
• Perform patient handoffs utilizing patient safety tools such as SBAR and bedside reporting
• Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members
• Interpret and utilize diagnostic, laboratory, and monitoring data to support patient care decisions
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, discharge instructions, and ongoing care needs
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
• Delegate and coordinate care with support staff as appropriate
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, department meetings, and continuing education activities

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient assessment skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Emergency Department nursing experience preferred
• ACLS and PALS certifications preferred
• Experience in critical care, telemetry, medical-surgical, or other acute care settings
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients in a fast-paced environment
• Strong teamwork, collaboration, and customer service skills
