Job summary

Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, ME, is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced setting. The role offers a pay range of $37.00–$51.28 per hour with a 3 x 12 schedule on evening shifts, and explicit sign-on bonuses up to $20,000 for experienced RNs, plus a $10,000 offer for new graduates.

New graduates are eligible for a $10,000 sign-on, and experienced RNs with acute care experience can receive up to $20,000.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license and active credentials.
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certified with maintenance through hire.
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• CEN certification preferred; BSN preferred where applicable.
• MICN, EDAP, NRP, TNNC or equivalent facility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care in the Emergency Department (ED).
• Perform rapid assessment, triage, and prioritization of care.
• Respond to acute changes, trauma, and life‑threatening conditions.
• Interpret labs and diagnostics and communicate with physicians.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and emergency treatments.
• Educate patients and families on care and discharge instructions.
• Ensure compliance with EMTALA, HIPAA, and patient safety standards.
• Report suspected abuse/neglect per regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation.

Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 30 days upon hire and maintain current. 5. Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire. 6. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.7. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):

1. In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current. 2. EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.3. Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.4. Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required.

Pay Transparency

Central Maine Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $37.00 to $51.28 per hour. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
