Job summary

Garden City Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver safe patient care in the DOU, following the nursing process and collaborating with physicians. The role focuses on direct patient care, patient education, and guiding nursing staff in a busy hospital setting.

Requirements include an active State RN license, BLS, and ACLS (within 30 days of hire); BSN is preferred. This is a full-time, day-shift opportunity at Garden City Hospital.

Qualifications

• Current and valid State RN License.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Provide direct patient care within scope of practice and support patient/family teaching.
• Direct and guide nursing staff while maintaining standards of care in the DOU.
• Communicate changes in patient condition with physicians and monitor hemodynamics and test results.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the DOU. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients. He/She communicates with the physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and abnormal results and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
